A Swing and a Miss: What Bold & Beautiful Has in Store for Dylan Will Horrify You

Does The Bold and the Beautiful hate Miss Dylan or what? So far, she’s been tied up at gunpoint by Luna, then traumatized by the fact that she accidentally made roadkill of the madwoman. Dylan wound up homeless with apparently no one to help her but bestie Electra, whose idea of support was to forbid her pal from spending so much as a second alone with boyfriend Will. Insecure much?

Electra’s aunt, Poison Ivy, then blackmailed her into moving out of Will’s beach house because she’d ballet-danced in front of him. When the fit hit t he shan, it was Electra’s turn to demand that Will evict his houseguest, who was left to hang a “Home, Sweet Home” sign on her car’s rearview mirror and eat out of Il Giardino’s dumpster.

A Change For the Better… and Then So… Much… Worse

Things finally started looking up for the beleaguered heroine when she got hired at Forrester Creations — a steady paycheck at last! But no sooner had she settled in and even become Daphne’s assistant than we found out that her cousin was Remy, the guy who’d once terrorized Electra! Think it can’t get any worse? Oh, but it can. In June, Miss Dylan is going to hit the sheets with R.J., Swooon reports.

There was a time when we would have been all for a Dylan/R.J. pairing. We loved their meet-cute and the sparks that flew between Sydney Bullock and Brayan Nicoletti. But since then, the show has worked overtime to turn R.J. into the smuggest, most entitled jerk this side of… well, his father, Ridge. So now, we want better for Dylan — way better.

Can R.J. Be Brought Back From the Brink?

Maybe Bold & Beautiful will surprise us, pull a U-ey and stop writing R.J. like an obnoxious Little Lord Fauntleroy. The soap does have a habit of completing changing its characters’ minds, after all. Remember how fired up Eric was to stick it to Ridge and Brooke… and then he altogether forgot his anger and wanted nothing more than to go back to the company that had kicked him out with his tail between his legs?

Plus, the chemistry was there between Bullock and Nicoletti, who has presence to spare when R.J. isn’t being penned as a self-satisfied creep. As Bullock tells Soaps.com, the two of them were stoked to get to work together that first time after occasionally bumping into each other at the studio. “We for sure wanted to lean into [the flirtation of the scene] and felt that was a very natural. We didn’t have to force anything. It felt we were just having fun together.”

It showed on screen. The question is, can Bold & Beautiful recapture that magic even after making R.J. one of the least likable characters on the show? TBD.
