Cat Realizes There May Be Something Seriously Wrong With EJ’s Drug, and Chad Agrees to Look Into Marlena’s Chess Set

 Julie keeps going on about the book club book, but Marlena can’t take her eyes off the baseball game on TV. It makes her feel closer to John. Then they spot Chad and Belle on the kiss cam and Julie is thrilled. Marlena isn’t upset either, though it certainly was… “So very public!”

Is Julie Ready to Move On?

Marlena is just happy they’re moving forward — just like Julie and Foster! No, no and nope! Julie insists that while part of her enjoyed spending time with Foster, another part felt guilty. Marlena points out the obvious: Doug would want her to be happy. Well… Julie hesitates, but she will see him again.

They talk for a bit about how Marlena isn’t ready to think about anyone besides John, then Foster calls with a bookstore crisis! Marlena walks Julie over, noting that this could be an excuse for Foster to see her. And Julie actually seems a little excited!

How Much Is Cat Playing EJ?

EJ and Cat pull away from their own kiss and stare, wide-eyed, at Chad and Belle kissing. Both of them try to downplay how bothered they are. EJ is just going to focus on the future — and that future is Cat! They kiss again, but she draws the line at going upstairs. This is moving a little too fast for her, especially after seeing their exes kiss.

EJ promises to go slow and move at her pace, but when he asks her to stay for dinner, she says she has family plans, so they call it a night. Those family plans just happen to be something she arranges with Mark the moment she walks out the door, so… technically not a lie? Nah, it was.

Mark is a few drinks in at Small Bar when Cat shows up. Aaron and Felicity are busy and… maybe Cat should sit down and talk. But then he says he doesn’t want to talk about anything. (Mixed signals here, Mark.) Cat directly asks if there’s a problem with the drug, so Mark slams down his drink and orders another.

Is Chad Really Into Belle?

Belle, Chad and the kids are back in the park after the game, heading home, and he grits his teeth as he wonders who all saw them kissing. “Honestly, I don’t care,” Belle tells him casually. “Do you?” No, no, not at all!

Chad sends the kids off to Jack and Jennifer and he’s all Belle’s! She reminisces about her childhood, and eventually the conversation turns to Marlena and the chess set. Chad doesn’t know anything about it, so Belle tells him what she and Brady discovered. He’s happy to look into it for her.

Can Paulina Get the Miracle Drug for Chanel?

Johnny is doing his best to cheer Chanel up with plans for a second honeymoon, but she’s wrapped up in her worries. The future feels too scary to think about right now. She just wants to focus on her amazing, supportive husband. And maybe talk about what all of this is going to do to her body and how it will affect both of them.

It’s been on Johnny’s mind too, but nothing will ever change how he feels or how deep his love is. “You will always be perfect to me.” Just as they settle that, Paulina comes pounding on the door, demanding that Johnny call his father “Right now!”

He won’t give her the miracle drug for Chanel! Johnny’s scoundrel of a father won’t even consider it! What an incredible idea! Johnny never thought of that before! But Chanel is not pleased. “What makes either of you think that I would want to take some super drug from EJ?!” She points out that there’s already a proven treatment, and she’s not about to be a guinea pig for an experimental drug while pregnant. (All of which are excellent points that Paulina never considered.) Oh, and she refuses to owe EJ anything. (OK, less important, but fair enough.)

In the Show’s Final Moments

Cat demands to know if Mark is going to let their mom go without a fight, and when she keeps pressing, he snaps. “We do not want that drug anywhere near mom!” Paulina apologizes to Chanel, they make up, hug, and she leaves. Johnny is proud of his wife, but he doesn’t seem entirely convinced as they embrace.

EJ strolls over to Marlena and Julie and, after Julie makes a quick retreat, admits that Belle is still weighing on his mind. But he had Cat with him, and maybe seeing Belle and Chad together was a sign for both of them to move on with someone else. Marlena wishes EJ and Cat well with his mystery. Then EJ brings up her chess board mystery. Marlena insists she couldn’t care less. “Suit yourself,” EJ sighs.

Belle thanks Chad for his help and he gives her a “proper” kiss. No kids. No cameras.
