If you haven’t been hiding from soap opera news, you already know that during the week of June 8, Beyond the Gates will host Young & Restless favorites Jack, Diane, Kyle, Devon, Abby and Victor in Fairmont Crest for a huge crossover storyline spanning multiple episodes. But if you haven’t yet tuned in to daytime television’s newest drama — and you really should, considering Soaps.com named it the best show of 2025 — you may be concerned about keeping track of the characters and the story. Don’t worry. Here’s a beginner-friendly guide to help you get up to speed on Beyond the Gates.
Why Are the Young & Restless Characters Visiting Beyond the Gates?
The residents of Genoa City travel to the DMV area for a formal fundraising gala honoring Congressman Martin Richardson. Martin’s grandfather, Vernon Dupree, happens to be a longtime friend of Victor. (You can check out what Clifton Davis, who portrays the Dupree family patriarch, has said about the mutual admiration between the two men.)
Also eager to mingle with the wealthy and influential crowd is newly rich troublemaker Leslie, whose presence is barely more welcome than the tornado that strikes the event. She is expected to clash with Vernon’s wife Anita, once the Diana Ross-like lead of a Supremes-style singing group known as The Articulettes. (Leslie’s late mother was part of that same group, which explains the fortune Leslie inherited.)
Complicated Family Affairs
Martin’s divorced parents are Dr. Ted, who is currently involved with scene-stealing Nurse Shanice, and therapist Nicole, who is romantically involved with hospital coworkers Kial and Carlton while still daydreaming about her former husband. Ted and Nicole’s daughter Kat, Martin’s younger sister, cannot stand Eva, her half sister from Ted’s affair with Leslie years ago.
Still following along? It’s packed with drama. Vernon and Anita’s other daughter — Nicole’s sister — is model Dani. What began as an impulsive marriage to photographer Andre has grown into a meaningful and genuinely sweet relationship. However, she continues to find herself drawn back to Bill, her regretful ex-husband who once cheated on her. (That’s why Dani and Bill are often viewed as a next-generation version of Victor and Nikki.)
Risky Business
It’s also worth noting that Bill is now married to former rival Hayley, a schemer who has been secretly poisoning him for months in the hope of eventually becoming a wealthy widow. The attention-seeking wife previously made advances toward Eva’s boyfriend, Izaiah. At this event, however, she ends up sharing a very close moment with Kyle. Judging by appearances, he has no plans to turn down her advances.
Sounds a lot like the Tara Locke situation all over again, doesn’t it?!?
