At the cliff house, Daphne thanks Steffy for being willing to be their donor and surrogate. Violin music plays as she gushes. Daphne can tell Steffy is emotional and asks if she’s really sure about this.
Carter interjects that Steffy already has her eggs frozen, so they can have a child sooner than Daphne might think. His wife wants to make sure Steffy is OK with this. Can she really have a child and give it away to them?
Steffy says not under normal circumstances, no. Crying, she chokes, “For you I will.” Daphne gushes about her selflessness until her phone rings. She has to go. Once they’re alone, Steffy shakes her head and panics, “I can’t do this, Carter!” She can’t lie to Daphne and Finn about being pregnant with his child!
Carter launches into a speech about them having no choice. He recaps how she became pregnant, and she reiterates that it goes against every instinct she has as a woman to give up her child. If she goes through with this, they’ll have to lie for the rest of their lives. Carter doesn’t like the alternatives. Steffy wants to tell the truth. Carter protests; they’ll lose everything! They can turn this into something positive. Steffy can’t give away her child. Still not hearing her, Carter urges her to tell Finn she’s going to be their surrogate. “We have to do it now.”
Ridge’s Reassurance
At Forrester, Ridge tells Finn he’s swamped, but he needs a few minutes of his time. Ridge asks what’s wrong. Finn says he’s tried to convince Steffy that Sheila won’t be part of their lives, but she’s still traumatized. She’s been a different person since they returned. Ridge says he and Taylor noticed it too. Ridge likes Finn, but he has to stop relying on words and take action. “Fix it.”
Finn will put in the work, but he needs a favor from Ridge. He has to go out of town for a conference and would like Ridge to keep an eye on Steffy. Her dad agrees. Finn assures him that his love for Steffy will never waver. Ridge grunts, “Good. Stay away from Sheila.”
Sheila’s Grievances
At Bikini, Sheila enthuses about Deacon’s nachos before continuing her complaints about Taylor not loving him the right way. When Deacon shuts that down, Sheila swerves to needing family. “I just want to be loved.” She pouts about not being allowed into her son’s life because she’s too violent.
Following Deacon to the bar, Sheila continues talking about how much she misses Finn. She assures her ex that she’ll respect his wishes and his marriage. She doesn’t want anything to come between Finn and his wife. “Not even me.”
The Final Scenes
Carter enters the office at Forrester, where Ridge complains about the company’s finances. Carter struggles to give an opinion, and Ridge asks what’s going on with him. He guesses it’s about the baby. Carter gawps, “The baby?” His boss assures him that the woman who can help them become parents is out there somewhere. Carter looks at Steffy’s photo and murmurs, “You’re right. She is. She has to be.”
At the cliff house, Steffy panics as she struggles with the overwhelming situation. Finn comes in to grab his bag and asks, “Are you OK?” Gasping, she assures him she’s fine. He offers to stay home and urges her to open up to him. “You can tell me anything.” Steffy says there’s something he needs to know.
Finn knows she’s still traumatized by what happened in Monaco. He and her parents are concerned. He assures her that Sheila won’t bother her. Steffy doesn’t want him worrying and urges him to enjoy his conference. Throwing herself into his arms, she asks him never to question how much she loves him. Finn says he never has.
Steffy has something to tell him. She knows this is coming out of nowhere, but what if she was Daphne and Carter’s egg donor and surrogate. Finn frowns, “You?!” She continues, “What if I gave Daphne and Carter a baby?”
