The “Sinn” marriage is about to face its first real test since Steffy saw Sheila’s toes in Monte Carlo, as Wednesday’s episode laid the groundwork for her to make a move that will leave Finn completely stunned.
Steffy’s situation continues to become more complicated and, frankly, even more unbelievable. Despite repeatedly telling Carter she would not, could not go along with his surrogacy scheme, Steffy not only let herself get drawn into it when faced with Daphne’s desperation, but went as far as trying to convince Finn that she wanted to do it.
Finn, who usually gives in when Steffy wants something, expressed a rare strong opinion when she brought up becoming Daphne and Carter’s egg donor and surrogate, telling her she absolutely couldn’t do it. He firmly, yet gently, pointed out that she’s simply too busy, would become too emotionally attached to the baby, and that it would negatively impact their family. Basically, everything she had already told Carter when she rejected the idea herself.
After shutting down the surrogacy plan, Finn flew off to a conference, leaving Steffy at something of a crossroads… one that could determine the future of her marriage. If Steffy tells Finn the truth when he returns, he could very well leave her, but we doubt she will.
This is where the “you won’t believe what Steffy does next” comes in. We’re almost certain she will greet Finn upon his return with the news that she has defied his wishes and has already gone ahead and been impregnanted to become Daphne and Carter’s surrogate.
It’s probably the only way she could get away with it anyway, since they’d be unlikely to pull off a fake procedure with Finn around the hospital. But Steffy blindsiding her husband with the lie that she’s been implanted with another man’s baby, after he essentially forbade it, is going to put their marriage to the test, there’s no doubt about that.
While telling Finn the truth could end the marriage, on soaps, it’s often the cover-up and lies that put the kibosh on relationships that otherwise might have survived. So, it’s kinda unbelievable that Steffy would take that risk.
