At the cliff house, Finn can’t imagine the emotional roller-coaster Daphne is going through, but tells Steffy she has already gone above and beyond for her. Steffy has to do more… she has to donate her eggs and become their surrogate. Finn frowns, “You’re kidding, right?”
Steffy tells Finn that she has already spoken to Daphne and Carter about this. Finn is stunned. He insists that there are other women who could do this for them. Steffy argues that they don’t have a history with the couple. Finn simply doesn’t understand why she feels she has to do this. He honestly can’t believe they would ask her or that she’d consider the idea. Has something happened to make her think about doing this?!
Finn wonders if Steffy is feeling pressured… or guilty because she was able to have two children when Daphne can’t. Steffy supposes that’s part of it. Finn is trying to process all of this and asks, “Why now?” He tells Steffy she’s not in a position to do this. They’re extremely busy, and it would be confusing for the kids. It would have too great an impact on their family. She simply can’t do this. “You know that, right?”
It’s 5 O’Clock Somewhere
At Forrester, Carter stews and flashes back over his drama with Steffy. Daphne strolls in and gushes about Steffy considering becoming their surrogate. She has a bag filled with baby clothes, and Carter reminds her to keep it quiet for now since Steffy hasn’t spoken to Finn yet.
Carter squirms as Daphne talks about trusting Steffy and goes on about how much she means to both of them. He opens a flask and pours alcohol into his coffee cup, choking a little as he gulps it down.
Deacon Defends Sheila
At Bikini, Taylor sneaks up on Deacon and startles him. He admits he thought it might have been Sheila. Taylor learns that she just missed her and guesses she wasn’t there solely for the nachos. Deacon says he’s not the only person Sheila misses. “She misses your son-in-law too.”
Taylor is skeptical when Deacon insists that Sheila is moving on, despite being a little jealous. They discuss her separation from Finn. Taylor reminds him that Sheila traumatized Steffy, who is still suffering after Monaco. She recounts Steffy’s shock at seeing Sheila’s toes overseas.
The Final Scenes
Still at Bikini, Taylor explains that coming face-to-face with Sheila stirred something inside Steffy. Deacon scoffs that it’s hardly the worst thing Sheila has done… he thought she’d be over it by now. Taylor can’t explain it; maybe there’s something else. All she knows is that her daughter is wrestling with something significant. Whatever it is, it’s not going away… in fact, it’s taking up more space inside her. Get it?
At Forrester, Carter reels inwardly as Daphne tells him how amazing it would be for him and Steffy to join forces to create their child. It’s the next best thing to being able to make a baby together. Carter, clearly feeling the effects of the alcohol, tells her she’s right… they’re all connected. Steffy brought them together and now she’s giving them a sacred gift. He can’t wait for Daphne to become a mother. “Steffy’s going to come through,” he declares.
At the cliff house, Steffy holds her head in her hands as Finn goes on about how selfless she is for even considering helping Daphne and Carter. But he’s sure she couldn’t handle emotionally detaching. Someone else will do it. He’s certain to point out that she’s loyal and committed. She shakes her head. Finn promises that when he gets home, they’ll spend a week in bed. Steffy knows he has to go. They kiss and express their love.
Once alone, Steffy grimaces and turns to look at the photos of their family. She holds her belly as Carter’s demands echo through her mind. “Say you’ll be our surrogate.”
