At the Shadow Room, Noah urges Sienna to talk to him… she hasn’t seemed like herself since Matt was there. She admits the conversation with her ex rattled her. Sienna has realized there was good in him; that’s the man she fell in love with. Noah objects, but Sienna thinks he’s changed.
Noah is focused on dealing with Matt now instead of waiting around to see what he does next. He’s a problem. “Matt wants to leave town, so I’m going to find a way to help make that happen. Whether he likes it or not.” Sienna worries that backing Matt into a corner could lead him to do something he regrets. Noah scoffs at the notion that he has a conscience and can’t believe she thinks he’s a changed man. Sienna confesses that seeing Matt behave humbly and sweetly has brought back good memories. It’s confusing and unsettling.
Phyllis’ Busy Day
At the Club, Phyllis spots Daniel, who fails to avoid his mother. She reminds him that the situation with Newman is finished. “Victor forgave me. You can’t?!” Daniel finds out that she saved Nick’s life and Victor was grateful. He gave her Cane’s old company as well… because he respects her. Daniel says he isn’t that transactional. He leaves.
Matt arrives and joins Phyllis for a drink. They toast to freedom and friendship, and she asks whether he’s considering skipping town. Matt admits she’s the only reason he isn’t running away. They clarify their feelings, and Matt croons that the first thing they have to do is deal with the ankle monitor and find somewhere to live. Phyllis has plenty of ideas.
Up in Phyllis’ suite, she has a bag of tools from maintenance and begins working on Matt’s ankle monitor. They joke about putting it on a freight train, a drone, or a cinder block at the bottom of a lake. He decides he’ll leave it in his room at the ranch to buy some time. Together, they remove it. She kisses him as he heads for the ranch.
Coitus Interruptus
At Lily’s place, she and Cane cuddle after sex. Her phone rings – it’s Devon. She answers, and her brother asks to meet up and talk. He needs her help and wants to come to her.
At Society, Abby sees Devon finishing his call and suggests they have a date night. He asks for a raincheck. He’s going to Lily’s to talk and says it’s about his sister’s recent choices. He knows his wife is worried about him, but he’s fine. Abby tells him she’s sad that he won’t open up to her… or doesn’t want to.
Devon wants to be able to tell Abby everything, but he needs time to sort out what’s going on in his head. She asks whether he’s unhappy with them. He says no… he loves her, and this is simply something he has to work through on his own. Tears stream down her face as she complains that he can talk to Lily but not to her.
Devon asks Abby to just allow him to handle this. Dom is noticing his anger… something is wrong, and he doesn’t know what it is. Abby hugs him. She’ll be there whenever he’s ready to talk.
Devon leaves, and Daniel arrives. He’s shocked to find Abby crying and asks whether she could use a friend. Abby admits that Devon is struggling and refuses to open up to her. There’s a wall between them that she can’t get through. Daniel encourages her to trust the love. Abby simply finds it difficult to remain on the sidelines.
Daniel asks whether Devon is still upset with Mariah. Abby says things are different now. He’s become distant and quiet, and she can’t help him. Daniel advises her to simply love him and be there when he needs her. In the meantime, she could use a distraction. “Have you been to Noah’s hot new club yet?”
Back at Lily’s, she tells Cane she can’t say no to Devon, who is clearly going through something. She hopes she can keep her temper under control given how combative he’s been. They reluctantly separate. Devon arrives and notices Lily has been entertaining someone. He snarks, “Was it Cane?” Lily admits they had dinner. Devon complains about her allowing him back into her life. She tells him to leave if he intends to attack her. He apologizes.
Off the Hook
At the Club, Cane crosses paths with Matt and questions him about working for Victor. Matt admits getting involved with him was a major mistake. He confesses he’s never been to Kansas either, telling Cane, “You’re off the hook.” Cane asks what comes next for him. Matt isn’t sure, but trying to atone for his past has gotten him nowhere. He cryptically hints that he may take his life in an entirely new direction.
In her suite, Phyllis tries to call Matt and reaches his voicemail. She asks, “Where are you?” and begs him to call her or, even better, walk through the door.
The Final Scenes
At Society, Abby tells Daniel she isn’t in the mood to go to a club. Daniel isn’t really either, but Lucy told him he’s lame, so they need to prove her wrong. Abby grins.
At Lily’s, she tells Devon he’s been so angry that she barely recognizes him lately. Devon admits he’s lashing out and acting like a jerk. She asks whether there’s more going on than the kidnapping. Devon thinks there is… he’s questioning everything about his life, including the money he inherited and the privilege that comes with it.
At the Shadow Room, Noah tells Sienna that Matt remains a problem, whether he’s changed or not. He has to get him out of Genoa City.
At Phyllis’ suite, she’s relieved when Matt comes back carrying a bag. She was worried about him. He finds that adorable. As far as Victor is concerned, he’s tucked into bed. Phyllis wants him to accept her job offer and allow her to take care of him. Sexy music begins playing, and they hit the sheets.
