There has probably been an occasion or two when many of us have wanted to give our appearance a little tweak here and there, but somehow the timing is never right. Whether we’re too busy with work, have our hands full with family… There’s always something — and that was the case for a former Young & Restless star, except amid the drama, he threw caution to the wind and went for it… and was happy he did.
Thom Bierdz (ex-Phillip Chancellor III) shared a lengthy post on his official Facebook documenting what had been happening in his life while considering making a little change and stated, “Why did I get the facelift now? Because I need drama?” He went on to explain that before leaving his longtime mountain rental, he’d planned on a mid-facelift (a cheek lift) this year because he wasn’t happy with his “aging face.” After saving the money, he found a doctor to perform the procedure.
Although the doctor did an “excellent job last week,” Bierdz had originally planned to have the surgery mid-September and wanted to fit it around his art contest schedule. “But why did I change the date?” he said before giving fans a glimpse of, well, the drama unfolding in his life. “Because my new rescue pup Mike kept destroying everything whenever I went to the grocery store. As he has for the three months I had him. He broke out of cages. When nothing changed in the ongoing drama, my only drama, it occurred to me — do I need drama in my life? Do I?”
He really didn’t believe more drama was the answer, however, he continued, “The question was so exasperating that I just decided if I do need drama (I don’t think I do) but if I do, that’s not fair to Mike. If I need drama, let me consciously decide what drama I want… ah… I hate my aging face — the facelift — I’ll choose that as my drama, if I do need drama.”
And with that, he’d been fortunate enough to secure an earlier appointment before the doctor went on vacation — until he discovered that the operating rooms were booked. (More drama!) But then, as luck would have it, a cancellation came through, he found someone to check in on his dog and the doc managed to fit Bierdz in. “So, in truth, if I needed drama, I wanted to decide what drama and chose the facelift, which happened so quick and perfectly it seemed destined at this time,” the actor stated before sharing what happened while he’d been gone…
“When I returned to the beach condo, I discovered Mike had escaped his cage, destroyed a new chair, new ottoman, my sheets, mattress covers, mattress and boxsprings. Did I still need that drama? Subconsciously? Or was Mike just a monster? In any event, I was not upset about my ruined things because I was ecstatic I looked younger… and there’s a lesson in that for me. I have since reinforced his cage which he has not been able to escape when I go grocery shopping.”
We’re happy to hear that even through all the “drama” (talk about a future soap storyline!) Bierdz did what he wanted to do and is pleased with the results!
