Not long ago, I found myself wondering—always a dangerous thing to do. Soap operas thrive on characters who stir up drama, don’t they? They’re built around people who keep the action moving. Some are obvious villains, while others are supposed to be characters viewers genuinely root for. That train of thought led me to The Bold and the Beautiful and one simple question: which regular character is actually the easiest to like?
Before revealing the results of the poll below, let’s take a quick look at the less-than-flattering moments from many of the show’s regular players.
Brooke Logan
Long ago, Stephanie famously branded Brooke “the slut from Valley,” and over the years Brooke has certainly built a complicated romantic history. She’s been involved with nearly every Forrester man, pursued Ridge while he was with both the original Caroline and Taylor, carried on an affair with sister Katie’s husband Bill, and even had a child with Deacon while he was still married to her daughter Bridget. And that’s only scratching the surface.
Ridge Forrester
The fashion designer once allowed a pinecone to influence his decision to leave Brooke, spent years bouncing endlessly between Brooke and Taylor, shared kisses with his father Eric’s then-wife Quinn, and punched longtime rival Bill while criticizing Bill’s son Will for having violent tendencies. And that’s before mentioning the countless insults Ridge has hurled at Hope over the years.
Steffy Forrester
As co-CEO of Forrester Creations, Steffy has repeatedly blurred the line between business and personal revenge. She relentlessly pursued Liam regardless of whether he was with Hope—remember the gondola?—and even betrayed devoted husband Finn by cheating with her former spouse.
Finn Finnegan
Finn’s flaws stem less from malice than from being almost unbelievably forgiving. How anyone could still feel sympathy toward either Luna—after she tried to murder Steffy—or Sheila—after everything she has done to Steffy and her family—is difficult to understand. At some point, compassion starts looking more like poor judgment.
Hope Logan
Hope is often presented as the show's moral center, but when things stop going her way, that image quickly fades. After helping orchestrate a takeover at Forrester Creations to save Hope For the Future, she jumped ship to rival fashion house Logan despite still being under contract with FC. Then there was her decision to pursue the married Finn, which hardly earned her any points.
Liam Spencer
Liam isn’t naturally cruel or malicious, but he has spent years breaking both Hope and Steffy’s hearts by endlessly bouncing between them. And mistaking a mannequin for his wife before cheating because of it remains one of the most unforgettable blunders in soap history. Certainly one of Liam’s own biggest mistakes.
Bill Spencer
Dollar Bill secretly carried on with Brooke while married to Katie, seduced Liam’s then-wife Steffy during one of her lowest emotional moments, and has taken just as much pleasure in watching rivals suffer over Logan’s success as he has in celebrating Katie’s rise within the fashion industry.
Katie Logan
Katie can certainly come across as judgmental, but compared to many others, her list of offenses is surprisingly mild. She dared to launch a company using her own surname and hired her niece after she became unhappy at Forrester. Perhaps Katie’s biggest weakness is making a bold decision, only to spend plenty of time agonizing over it afterward.
Will Spencer
Usually laid-back, Bill and Katie’s son has recently developed a habit of throwing punches before asking questions. And if he truly loves Electra as deeply as he claims, his quick move toward Dylan only hours after another breakup certainly raises eyebrows. Perhaps youth, immaturity, and a healthy dose of Spencer DNA explain it.
Electra Forrester
Raised in privilege, Electra demanded that Will throw her homeless best friend out of the beach house, imposed unrealistic rules on both Will and Dylan while they lived together, exploded after Will kissed Dylan even while she herself was kissing cousin R.J., and condemned violence despite slapping her own best friend. Not exactly consistent behavior.
R.J. Forrester
The ultimate nepo baby carries his entitlement proudly. He even fired rival Will despite many viewers still having little idea what R.J.’s actual position at Forrester Creations is. Alongside his frequent moral lectures, he consistently behaves as though he occupies the ethical high ground.
Melissa Dylan
For most of her time on the show, the former teacher has gone out of her way to support Electra and accommodate her insecurities. Still, even her supporters may admit that trying to seduce Will immediately after Electra dumped him wasn't exactly the wisest decision. Comforting him is one thing; helping him out of his shirt is another.
Sheila Carter
“I’ve changed! I’ve changed!” Sheila insists at every opportunity. But after attempting to murder countless people, pushing Brooke off the wagon, and trying to blackmail both Deacon and Taylor by withholding divorce papers, many viewers understandably respond with one simple question: who could possibly believe her?
And the Winner Is…
Receiving more than 20 percent of the vote, the readers’ favorite character is... Katie.
That lead may shrink now that she’s targeting Dylan so aggressively without much justification, but for the moment she sits comfortably at the top. Steffy claimed second place with just over 12 percent of the vote, Bill Spencer finished third, “someone else” earned more than 10 percent, and newcomer Melissa Dylan rounded out the Top Five—a particularly impressive achievement for one of the show's newest faces.
