EJ Gets an Unwelcome Surprise as Kristen Disappears, and Philip’s Matchmaking Attempt May Actually Pay Off

Xander and Philip receive word that Gabi’s money has finally come through, giving them every reason to celebrate. Sarah walks in to find them already raising a glass and can’t help but look amused. After a little coaxing, Philip persuades her to join them for a drink before sending her and Xander down to the wine cellar to fetch another bottle. A wine cellar? The Kiriakis family has a wine cellar? Well, considering how wealthy they are, it shouldn’t be surprising—even if viewers rarely get to see it the way they do the DiMera estate.

Will Philip’s Plan Reunite ‘Xarah’?

As they search for the wine Philip requested, Xander and Sarah reminisce about old times and briefly brush hands. But when they try to leave, they discover the cellar door won’t budge. There’s no immediate reason to panic since Philip knows exactly where they are. The problem is… he has no intention of letting them out just yet. In fact, he deliberately arranged the whole thing in hopes of helping Xander win Sarah back. With no other option, the two uncork the bottle and begin drinking straight from it while they wait.

Xander mentions the club’s father-daughter dance and admits he’d love to take Victoria, an idea Sarah wholeheartedly supports. She thanks him again for everything he did to help Holly. Xander says he was simply glad he could help but also suggests they tell Holly that EJ was responsible for everything—and that they work together to bring him down.

Kate arrives to join the celebration and immediately wonders where Xander and Sarah have disappeared to. Philip tells her exactly what he did, prompting an instant reaction.

“What were you thinking? You’re not in high school, Philip!”

Kate points out that Philip wasn’t the one who destroyed their marriage—Xander’s violence was. Besides, there’s also Brady to consider. Philip dismisses that argument, insisting anyone can see Sarah belongs with Xander. Kate quickly reminds him of his history of interfering in Brady’s love life—including framing him for murder—and orders him downstairs to act like an adult and let Xander and Sarah out of the cellar.

Is Chad Really Over Cat?

Cat rushes over to Rafe’s place, eager to hear every detail about Gwen’s kidnapper, Dimitri. The situation becomes even more complicated when she learns Leo took the bait and is already on his way to Alamainia. Rafe intends to follow him there, armed with Gwen’s confession, hoping to rescue her and convince her to turn against EJ in order to save herself. Everything finally seems to be falling into place, and Rafe even wants to apologize to Cat for doubting her after everything she’s done.

Meanwhile, Chad updates Belle on everything involving Leo, Dimitri, and Gwen. Unfortunately, he can’t travel to Italy because he refuses to miss Charlotte’s father-daughter dance at the club. Belle, however, can’t postpone her trip because of her heavy caseload. It’s now or never—which means Chad won’t be joining her. The pair later stroll through the town square, briefly crossing paths with Cat, and laugh about how, after knowing each other for years, it ultimately took an app to bring them together. Chad also admits he had an incredible day with Belle.

Where Is Kristen?

EJ is quietly reflecting on the guilt he feels over having Kristen kidnapped when Rita rushes in with alarming news. The private jet has already taken off—but Kristen is still in Salem. As it turns out, the aircraft they intended to use was actually the one Chad loaned to Leo.

EJ and Rita hurry to the airfield. Rita remarks that leaving Kristen locked inside the shipping container isn’t exactly sanitary, so EJ reluctantly opens it. The person inside isn’t Kristen. It’s Lexie. After waking her, Lexie admits she overheard the entire plan and secretly switched places with Kristen. She has no idea where Kristen has gone. All she wants is for EJ to allow her to travel to the island so she can die in peace. If she can’t face Abe and Theo, EJ promises to take her home instead so she won’t have to die alone.

 In the Show’s Final Moments

Sarah realizes just how long they’ve been trapped in the cellar—long enough to nearly finish an entire bottle of wine. When she suddenly spots a mouse, she panics and leaps straight into Xander’s lap. The moment almost turns into a kiss…

…but before it can happen, Philip opens the door.

EJ brings Cat home and orders Rita to find Kristen immediately. He assures Lexie that no one will know she’s staying there. Moments later, he suddenly looks up in surprise. Cat walks into the living room—but the only person she finds is Rita, while, unnoticed in the background, the secret door quietly slides shut.
